C and UNIX Fools for software Desaign
Some things just naturally fit together. Such is the case for C and UNIX. These software tools have been developed in tandem, C is an excellent programming language. UNIX is an excellent operating system; they work well together and many software developers choose to take advantage of the symbiotic relationship between C and UNIX.
In C and UNIX Tools for Software Design we introduce the essential features of C and LINIX, and we encourage readers to use them together to write more powerful and more effi-cient programs. We assume that our readers have some prior programming experience, but we do not require knowledge of any particular language or any specific programming concepts. The text is designed for a one-semester course, and it would be feasible to use this text in a CSI course for which C is the designated language and where students have prior program-ming experience. The text is also appropriate for non-computer science majors, particularly those in mathematics, engineering, and science. The UNIX material is self-contained and may be skipped by those who already know UNIX or are using ar.other operating system. The guiding principles of C and UNIX: Tools for Software Design are the following
